**av.mx** • Symbol for **maximum average value** over a continuous range of time. As a more specific example, the symbol **SPE.av.mx_00:00:10** denotes the maximum average bicycle speed measured over a continuous time of ten seconds.

PowerCoach features three types of result tables for the quantities of such **maximum average values** within time series. Each of those tables, called **PERFORMANCE MX** tables, offers a set of 128 result values:

. **PERF SPE [0:01]** table, for example, discriminates 128 steps of 0:01 for **SPE.av.mx** time ranges up to 2:08.

. **PERF SPE [0:16]** table, for example, discriminates 128 steps of 0:16 for **SPE.av.mx** time ranges up to 34:08.

. **PERF SPE [4:16]** table, for example, discriminates 128 steps of 4:16 for **SPE.av.mx** time ranges up to 9:06:08.

Typically, high resolution tables of [0:01] are used to explore short time performances, like standing starts or sprints. Medium resolution tables of [0:16] are used to assess maximum aerobic power and anaerobic threshold performances. Low resolution tables of [4:16] reflect performances lasting up to several hours.
